The Story of Chettinad Mess

At Chettinad Mess, we invite you to experience the authentic flavors of South India, served with the warmth and hospitality that has been passed down through generations. Our journey began with a passion for sharing the rich culinary traditions of Chettinad, a region known for its bold spices, vibrant colors, and deeply rooted food culture.

The founder of Chettinad Mess, Ganapathy, has been part of the restaurant industry since 1990. His journey began at Annamalai University in Tamil Nadu, where he honed his skills from 1990 to 1996. Afterward, he went on to manage a successful restaurant in Salem, Tamil Nadu, from 1997 to 2003, before transitioning to running a popular mess at SRM University in Tamil Nadu, where he has continued to serve the community since 2004.

His years of experience have shaped Chettinad Mess into what it is today. Ganapathy’s dedication to authentic flavors and quality ingredients, paired with his deep understanding of the importance of hospitality, is at the core of everything we do. His vision has always been to bring people together over delicious food that tells a story of tradition, community, and love.

Inspired by the bustling mess halls (or “Anbu Kadai”) where families and friends gather to share hearty meals, Chettinad Mess offers a dining experience that celebrates community, connection, and good food. Every dish we serve is a tribute to the time-honored recipes of South India, infused with modern touches to appeal to the vibrant, diverse culture of Stirling.
